The John William Jackson Fund supported The Cabin's youth outreach program by sponsoring the visits of Chris Abani to the Frank Church High School and Ada County Juvenile Detention Center. Chris is an award winning writer. The grant award was in memory of Velma V. Morrison.

Note: The Cabin, a non-profit organization, invites acclaimed teachers and writers to Idaho to mentor students in week-long summer writing camps throughout Idaho, and they teach in a Writer in the Schools (WITS) program which supports creative writing enrichment in 3rd – 12th grade classrooms. WITS inspires students, including at risk students and juveniles in detention centers, to write.
