The Meiers knew John before his climbing accident in Central Asia.  In the Fall of 2000, Jackie & Bill Jackson, Pat & Marcus and a few friends established the John William Jackson Fund.  At that time, the Meiers were living in Monti Antico, Italy and have recently moved to Washington state to be near family.
